How to Root HTC Desire C Android 4.0 ICS with Superboot

Today our tutorial How to root HTC Desire C Android 4.0 ICS phone easily with the help of Superboot application. HTC Desire C is one of the cheapest phone with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS OS pre-installed. It was launched in the market few months ago and available in the India with price tag around Rs 15,000. This Phone somehow replaced the Wildfire S and created a new place of its own by equipping with decent specifications like Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 600 MHz Cortex-A5 processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and Adreno 200 GPU. HTC has tweaked the HTC Sense 4.0 interface and thus it gives a fluidic performance with low processor resources. Beats Audio gives tremendous music experience and manual equalizer setting adds more outstanding music clarity while listening the songs.
PauloBrien from Modaco forum has introduced the procedure to root HTC Desire C using superboot. He has explained the whole process neatly on the forum about superboot image that will replace the default boot image and will unleash super User and install SuperSU on boot. The process will not edit partition, firmware files, Kernel files etc. It will just change the default boot mode that will give you the Super user access. It is a safe and easy method to root HTC Desire C. After rooting you can capable to install custom roms like Cyanogenmod and MIUI.

Pre-Requisite:

1. In this process, you need to have an International flagship HTC Desire C Android Phone, a Windows based Computer and a USB data cable.
2. Then, you need to take the complete backup of your HTC device before starting the process. So, backup the files, data and apps – Contacts, SMS, Call Logs, Images, Music, Videos, Bookmarks, APN (Access Point Names) settings, MMS settings, etc.
3. Minimum battery requirement for the completion of the process is 80%. This is necessary if you don’t want any power problem such as device turns off during the process.
4. You must also disable the anti-virus or firewall if installed in your Computer and HTC device. As this can cause interruption during the process.
5. Enable the USB Debugging on your HTC Desire C. The path which you need to enable is ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’. Then, check the USB Debugging.
6. Make sure that HTC Desire C USB device drivers will be installed in PC.

Note: If you are using retail device then you must visit HTCDEV site and follow the instructions there to unlock the bootloader.

Steps and Procedure Root HTC Desire C Android 4.0.4 ICS Phone with Superboot 

1. Download superboot r1 zip file from here to PC. After downloading is completed extract the file using either WinZip or WinRAR

2. Now put the HTC Desire C in bootloader mode. For that, you need to turn off the device. Again press and hold the Volume Up as well as Volume Down buttons simultaneously and then press the Power button. 

3. Once the device is entered into the bootloader mode. Go the extracted folder which you already done in Step 1

4. Once enter into folder there you get a file name called install-superboot-windows.bat. Look at below image.
5. Run the install-superboot-windows.bat file by double clicking it. A small window will be opened it indicates you connect the device to PC. Once device is connected the flashing root process will be going to start. 
6. After task is completed the device will rebooted automatically and it will be boot into Android OS. 

Congratulations! You have you have now successfully rooted your HTC Desire C with Superboot.

  9. after rooting the device. First you must install ClockworkMod recovery then only you can install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Cyanogenmod ROM's.

  11. Enter into bootloader mode then check for S-OFF. If status shows S-OFF then your device bootloader is unlocked and S-ON indicates locked bootloader.

    2. Yes dude one of my friend recently unlocked bootloader of his HTC Desire C and his status shows now S-OFF. Before on locked bootloader it shows S-ON.

    4. It doesn't matter whether your device is S-ON or S-OFF. Check whether the device is successfully rooted or not.

  14. Without Computer you can't root the device.

    International flagship means the same device will be available all over the world

    when comes to Non International the devices will be available to some particular carrier services like AT&T, Sprint and Verizon

    i downloaded the sdk .zip frm htc dev site
    i continued the proceess and the get stuck on step 2 when we have to run sdk manager
    i have boght the device from a shop called emax
    and i want to root it please guide me

  18. @Aditya without unlocking bootloader you can also root the device.

    @Su Xen power off the device. Now press and hold both volume up and down button and press power on the phone. With in 5 secs you will be landed in bootloader mode.

  27. @Aditya have you installed USB HTC device drivers in the PC? If not download it from here http://goo.gl/tFPp2 and install it. Then your PC will recognize the device when you connect to the PC.

  32. for entering the bootloader mode try this one Press and hold Volume Down Key and press Power button. with in 5 secs it will take you into bootloader

    @Aditya have you entered into bootloader screen?

    Note: One more thing i updated the root zip file to latest one. So again download the file and try it yourself.

    1. Before connecting your to the PC. You should put your device in bootloader mode. For that turn off the device, then Press and hold the both Volume Up and Volume Down buttons simultaneously and then Press the Power ON button.

      After entering into the bootloader mode now connect the device to PC while open the flashing process window.

  46. Everything is nice, it said Upgrading Android or something like that then I came to Home. No apps or other data where deleted. Everything is saved?! What, what happened, sais Android 4.0.3! But it says error when I try to connect the WiFi? How to fix this?

    When batch was waiting for my phone when I plugged it in after some seconds of recognizing it my phone rebooted, then it showed Upgrading Android, after max 15 seconds it brought me to Home, the same wallpaper, arranging of folders & apps, no data losed. What? How? But? But H-How? Everywhere says you will lose all your stuff! I checked if it is rooted and said yes! God bless you all! Trust this guy, I din't notice problems!

  49. Lol hey Joseph, I've downloaded and flashed a Cyanogenmod 10 for my HTC but it kept restarting after the first day of use. Now I went back to stock and rooting again :) Because this stock deleted the root access.

    2. Dumb, keeps restarting every 1 minute. Contacted Max Lee on FB and adviced me first to install the rom and flash the boot.img, to reboot and then GAPPS. Should give it a try!
