Install Official Android 4.0.3 Update Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro

The time has arrived for Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro users to install Official Android 4.0.3 ICS firmware update on their devices. I know most of the users are you thinking how to install it right? Then we have prepared a detailed tutorial procedure on below. Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro was upgraded version of his older brother Ideos X5 U8800 and it was launched in April, 2011. It was shipped with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. Recently Huawei Company has released Official Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS update for Ideos X5 U8800 Pro in June month with many bug fixes and also added new features. Sad news is they didn’t release the update via OTA (over the air); users must download the ICS rom file from the official website and install it manually. The phone has 800 MHz processor and Adreno 200 GPU that is supporting ICS well. Check out the detailed list of new features below added on this Android ICS firmware for Huawei Ideos X5 Pro:

Huawei UI Smart dialing feature
Huawei UI Smart search for contacts
Added Microsoft Exchange synchronization
Optimize the boot speed
Optimize the GPS speed
Support the WPS feature (Wi-Fi)

    ReplyDelete
  17. we found 3 step with 3 dload which one we must extract and copy to sd card/ phone

    ReplyDelete
  18. This update will not work on Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 model.

    ReplyDelete
  19. copy the dload folder which contains more size in MB.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do you know where I can find drivers for HUAWEI U8800 PRO? I can not upgrade without them.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I mean the driver "android adapter" is missing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Here go download HUAWEI Ideos X5 U8800 PRO usb drivers with pc suite for windows. http://goo.gl/jqPpk

    ReplyDelete
  23. With this driver my phone appears as a optical drive... I don't know what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i don't know what do you want exactly. have you downloaded and copied the firmware package into your Phone micro sd card?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi i managed to install this rom but you need to do it in 3 steps ( there should be a guide included with the rom package ) .. u need to copy the dload folder from each step to the root of ur sdcard one step at a time and you have to restart holding all physical buttons together .. it works perfectly and but its a little heavy on the memory .. you get a very few ram left .. alsothe launcher sucks ... get apex or nova from play store , it also helped with the memory

    ReplyDelete
  26. I too updated few days back and it worked wonder..

    What to do:

    1. Take backup and export to memory card for contacts/sms etc.

    2. Download the patch from Huawei site.

    3. After extracting: there are 3 dload folders. The dload(/update2) is bigger of all in size. So basically this is the main ICS file.

    4. Now copy dload one by one and do software update using memory card. If you have memory card reader then excellent.

    5. First update dload/update1 and when you installation complete, your mobile will restart, remove battery then only to avoid restart and Copy dload/update2 as written in Huawei document. Now it will update well.

    6. After this copy dload/update3 and then restart. All are done without any lag. Finally, Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro will be loaded with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have downloaded and installed in my ideos x5 pro. i have followed all the steps but when i tried to upgrade its showing that the upgrade package is not detected. confirm the upgrade package, andthen perform the upgrade.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Didn't work me with SD-card at all. I tested 3 SD-cards. Just update phone using phone own internal memory, not (external)memory card. Start with dload 1 and go through all three dload directories files. Lot of booting and coping, but working ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Sudheer when you download the firmware package their you will get text file which contain instructions for installing ics on Ideos X5 Pro.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have downloaded the firmware package from official website and followed instructions.but .APP files are not reading. In my phone.please help. When I tried its showing unable to open

    ReplyDelete
  31. There is no .app extension support for android OS. Only .apk files will work.

    ReplyDelete
  32. But the package from Huewei is coming only as upgrade.app.all the three folders contains upgrade.app

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sudheer follow my guide if you have memory card reader. So it will be more easy to copy one by one dload folders into sd card.

First copy the dload/update1 file into phone sd card storage. Turn off the device and again turn on installation process will start automatically and when the installation is complete. Your mobile will going to be restart, remove battery then only to avoid the restart.

    2. Again Copy dload/update2 as written in Huawei document. Now it will update as well.

    3. At last copy dload/update3 to sd card. Then restart the device. that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you joseph. its working well.Only problem is some times phone restarts automatically. The cloud storage is not available like in 2.3.5 and is there any news about upgrade to jelly bean 4.1

    ReplyDelete
  35. At present there is no news about updating Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro to Jelly Bean OS. You have wait for official announcement from Huawei company.

    ReplyDelete

  37. The download is no more available on the official website :( any other means we can upgrade to ICS ?

    ReplyDelete

    1. OK copy the update package into the phone internal memory rather than SD card. Follow the procedure and let me know if it didn't work for you then i will find another solution.
