Install Android 4.0 ICS on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi with CyanogenMod 9 pre-alpha ROM

Now, here comes Cyanogenmod 9, which is the latest and first official frimware Ice Cream Sandwich version in the Custom ROM family. It is still in the stages of development. Normally, we hardly see any official release from the Cyanogen development team. However, the lead developer of the team, Steve Kondik did post a link to the pre-alpha version of the CyanogenMod 9 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.   • Take back up your current rom by using this ClockMod Recovery App. In case your device may stop suddenly during the flashing process. So you can revert back into old state.
  • Back up all your Phone contacts, SMS and Call logs by using this app.
  • Better to copy your entire SD card Data into your PC. If something may happens your device. Then you can restore all your data from your PC.
  • Make sure that your device is charged more than 60% battery.
  • Now you need to enable USB debugging on your device (Settings> Applications > Development > USB debugging).

Installing Procedure

  • Download the CyanogenMod 9 pre-alpha ROM for Galaxy tab from here. After open the link you can see this file name update-cm-9-02192012-SNAPSHOT-p4wifi-signed.zip which was 117mb file size.
  • After downloading the rom in your PC. Transfer the zip file into the SD card of your device via USB cable.
  • Power off the tablet and reboot into CWM Recovery by pressing the Volume +UP and Power button together. Now you see list of options to perform. By performing the operations you can use volume up and volume down buttons.
  • Now, Select the “wipe data/factory reset” then select “YES” to confirm.
  • Next select the option called install zip from sd card > choose the zip from sd card. Now select the file which you was transferred earlier into your sd card of the device.
  • It will take some time to complete the processes. After completing “Go Back” and select “Reboot System Now”.

The Cyanogenmod development team has not ever been too keen with announcing release dates for their new versions.

    When you enter into Clockmod recovery there you can see a restore and backup. By selecting that backup option you can backup your current firmware and it will saved in sdcard/clockmod/backup. Make sure that the backup will be placed in safe places like PC or laptop. Sometimes if you wipe your phone the backup data will deleted then you can't restore the backup. Therefore you can't go back into original firmware of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi device.

    Hello @amarelo if you don't have sd card then you can use internal storage to store that Rom file which you are going to flash. When you enter into clockwork recovery you can select internal storage and choose the zip file to complete the process.

    Hi Joseph. I have a Samsung tablet which runs on Android 4.1.2 but will not support Adobe Flash player. I understand that the latest version of Android that will do is 4.0. Could I downgrade my operating system to 4.0 and, if so, what problems might occur.

      android 4.1.2 can support adobe flash if you have custom rom running on the device.
