How to Install Official Android ICS 4.0 XXLPQ Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100

Today I will guide you How to Install Official Android ICS 4.0 XXLPQ Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Samsung Galaxy S 2 was the most buzzed android phone last year, released by Samsung in the MWC of 2011. It also got a revolutionary design and perhaps that was the reason why it was buzzed in the phone market apart from its features. Moreover it also having Android v2.3 by default but recently Samsung Company has announced that they will release the latest version of Android v4.0 (ICS) update on march 19th 2012. As far as we know that this update is only available for certain regions like Baltic, Poland, Hungary and other Nordic countries. The above we listed country users can update their device with Android 4.0 ICS version with either over the air (OTA) or by using Samsung Kies Software. Frome below image you check Samsung has revamped the original ics theme with their touchwiz Interface.
But other countries users US and UK cannot update their device with Android ICS 4.0 XXLPQ Firmware because it will take some time to get the official update in to your regional areas and it will be available or rolled out after 1 or 2 months. I know this will make you annoy and but you can still install the android ICS 4.0 update on your Galaxy S2 i9100 device although you are from other region. Here the tutorial is really simple, and we highly recommend you guys to read other things like Note, Disclaimer and Thing required section thoroughly.

Note: This is a highly sophisticated process so if you don’t know anything about it, better don’t try it yourself. This tutorial is meant only for Samsung Galaxy S2, I9100 original version. Better to back up  everything like contacts, messages, songs, videos etc .

Things Required

● The original model of Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 is required for this process and if your phone’s model differs from this one then please don’t try it.
Backup everything you have on your phone using various applications available for Android OS. Remember everything will be removed.
● Charge your mobile’s battery fully, because this process requires at least 60% of battery left. So make it sure that your phone is fully charged.
● Enable USB debugging, this is really important. You can enable USB debugging by going here Settings > Applications >Development > USB Debugging.
● Samsung Galaxy S 2’s drivers installed on your PC.
● Follow each step carefully.

Follow the Tutorial and Steps for Installing the Android ICS on Samsung Galaxy S2 Device

1 – You have to download XXLPQ Firmware and the Odin file on your PC.
2 – Extract the both downloaded files. First extract the Firmware file you will get .tar extension file and after extract  odin.zip and this time you will see 3 files including the .dll file.
3 – Now move on to your phone, just switch it off and then start in downloading mode by pressing and holding the Vol Down + Home + Power Buttons together.
4 – Now move back to PC, and connect your phone to your PC using the data cable.
5 – Now open the ODIN application which we made you download (Step 1). If your device will be connected successfully, the ID:COM Section will turn yellow color. It means that you device is recognized sucessfully.
6 Now select the PDA tab, and then select “I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXALPQ_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5” file.
7 – Now just click the start button to shoot off the process.
8 – Let the process of flashing custom ROM complete. Once it’s done, just reboot and you are done!

If you stuck on the “Slogo, then you can do one thing. Start your phone in the recovery mode by pressing and holding Home + Vol Up + Power button together. Once you are in it, just go to Factory Reset option and then wipe the cache of your phone one-by-one. Once you are done, just tap “reboot system now” option and you will successfully see the ICS OS on your phone.

  1. Just a small note: I had to press the Volume Down button instead of the Volume Up you mentioned. I could not get into download mode, so I googled it and other sites mentioned to press Volume Down instead of Volume Up. That worked.. But thanks for the article! My s2 is rebooting now after using Odin..

  9. Hello What ever your region is doesn't matter. you can flash your GT i9100 with Android 4.0 ICS.

    Yes this firmware comes with Samsung TouchWiz Interface not original Android 4.0 ICS Interface

    i would like to know, what is the original filmware for Galaxy S2.
    i already flash my s2 with odin & now i would like to move back on original filmware.
    i dont want odin any more. can any one suggest me how to remove odin from S2. thanks

  19. So you got this error after updating the device right? The phone will be rebooted automatically have done any mistake at that time?

    OK remove battery, sim and SD card from the device. Now again place the battery only and power on the device.
