Update Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 Official ICS 4.0.4 XXLQ1 Firmware

Today our tutorial how to Install and Update Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 with Official Android ICS 4.0.4 XXLQ1 Firmware. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 was a great tablet features with high end specifications and it offers you both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options. Although it is from 2nd Generation Tablet line up but it looks like Samsung still has interest in it and want to keep it updated. Recently Samsung has launched the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ICS update for Galaxy Tab 7.7. The new update dubbed as XXLQ1 baseband firmware version. It got premium pack exclusive for Tab 7.7 to resolve many issues that customer were facing. The XXLQ1 firmware was rolled out via OTA over the air and Kies for United Kingdom (UK), Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Spain. This firmware can be used other regions too nothing will be happen. Galaxy Tab 7.7 customers were regularly complaining about the crashing TouchWiz launcher and Play Store. Beside that other apps were facing frequent crashes. The new ICS update addresses almost all of the reported bugs and thus is a must have update for Tab 7.7 users. We have created a detailed process that will guide you through flashing the update manually.

Requirements

1. The above firmware works only on Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 only and doesn’t works on other galaxy tab variants.

2. Backup your important data such as SMS, call logs, contacts, images, audios, videos, Bookmarks, APN (Access Point Names) settings and MMS settings. With this backup files you can restore them after update.

3. The minimum battery requirement for the completion of this flashing process is around 70% or more. It’s better to keep your battery charged to minimum this level as this may cause power issues i.e. your device may turns off during the process and cause problem in restarting.

4. Please ensure that antivirus or firewall is disabled from your Computer and Galaxy Tab devices respectively. As they causing interruption during the updating process.

5. Enable the USB Debugging option on your Galaxy Tab 7.7 through the path ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging’.

6. Check whether USB device drivers for Galaxy Tab 7.7 installed in PC or not. If not installed then download if from Samsung website here.

Steps and Procedure to Update Galaxy Tab 7.7 with ICS 4.0.4 XXLQ1

1. Download the latest ICS 4.0.4 XXLQ1 Firmware update zip file package from here to your Computer. File name P6800XXLQ1_P6800OXALQ1_ATO.zip and size will be 579 MB.

2. Extract the downloaded firmware zip file with WinZip or WinRAR. Once extraction is completed you will get file P6800OXALQ1_P6800XXLQ1_HOME.tar.md5.

3. Download the Odin3-v1.85 flashing tool zip file from here to PC. Extract it and you will get the Odin3-v1.85.exe in the folder.

4. Now switch off the tablet in order to enter into Download mode. For that you need to hold Volume Down key and Press the Power Button together. Hold two buttons until you will get message like enter into download mode. If you get this message, then you can release those buttons. Press the Volume Up button for entering the download mode.

5. Run Odin3-v1.85.exe application in the PC by double clicking it.

6. Connect the tablet to PC via USB cable. In Odin a yellow colour will appear in ID:COM field. That means the device has successfully recognized by Odin.

7. In Odin, Click on PDA tab and select the file P6800OXALQ1_P6800XXLQ1_HOME.tar.md5 which you got in step 2.

8. Click the Start button in Odin. The firmware updating process will be started and will be completed with 5 to 10 mins.

9. The device will be rebooted and you will get a green color Pass message in Odin.

10. To confirm whether your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 successfully updated to Android ICS 4.0.4 or not. Navigate to Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version, where you will see  P6800XXLQ1 in firmware version.

  1. I did all process with success. But I realized that my wifi has a problem now. It's instable, with connections staying down and up. In some cases, I see all networks available, but my tablet doesn't connect.

    What can I do?

  2. Go to Google Play Store and download Wifi Static app. Open the app and configure the static IP address settings. I hope it will help to solve your wifi issues.

  3. i have connected my device to laptop in downloading odin mode and started odin application on laptop but it is not recognizing my device, there is no yellow color in ID:com
    please suggest what should i do?

  4. i think you didn't installed compatible USB device drivers for Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800. In above requirements section i mentioned in step 5 please check once again and install drivers in the PC.

  5. Can please anyone let me know if they had any major issues with this update method?
    I'm thinking of updating my tab as well but I am afraid I will make it a brick.

    1. It doesn't have any major issues, you can go ahead and install this update on your tab. Moreover there is no chance of bricking the device by following my instruction you can do it safely without any problems.

  6. hallo ..there is unstable wifi connectivity ..i can see avaliable network but cant connect to them...is any solution???

    1. For unstable wifi connectivity download a application called Wifi Static from Google Play Store. Get it from here http://goo.gl/AcaJO. Once you get the app there will be no more wifi disconnections. Still you face problem let me know i will try solve your issue.
